For most of us, the ability to earn a living is the most important factor in maintaining our lifestyles. The possibility of illness or injury threatening an income is a possibility that shouldn't be underestimated.
In the UK there is a one in seven chance of being off work for more than six months.*
Income protection schemes can provide welcome security in the event of long-term illness or injury but for some people (e.g. firemen, builders and electricians) they can be expensive. Additionally some jobs, with a very high accident risk, cannot be covered at all by conventional income protection plans.
Essential Ability Cover allows individuals to protect their income, whatever the nature of their jobs.
Essential Ability Cover provides benefits based on an individual's ability to perform a range of basic activities. As cover is based on day to day basic activities, and not their occupation, most occupations are now affordable to insure.
These pages provide an overview of our Essential Ability Cover Plan. You will find information on what the product is and how it works.
