UnumProvident hosts training day for local students

17th August 2006

Leading disability insurer, UnumProvident, has hosted an office skills training day for trainees of Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation Training College, which is based in Leatherhead and works to equip people with disabilities with skills, in order to increase their independence and mobility and help them into employment.

Eleven trainees and two tutors, Brenda Thorne and Lorraine McCarthy, from the College’s Office Administration courses attended the event, which was the second to be hosted by UnumProvident.

Topics covered in talks from UnumProvident employees included: document security; health and safety at work; and an overview of the different departments within the company.

Julia Wiggins, Resourcing Consultant at UnumProvident, said:

Letting the trainees come to our workplace provides them with an invaluable opportunity to see how an office runs first hand and to ask our employees questions relating to the workplace, something that can’t be replicated inside a classroom.

All of the trainees were presented with an attendance certificate at the end of the day.
