UnumProvident, the UK's leading disability insurer, has recruited Dr Nigel Dear to the role of Company Medical Officer.
Dr Dear brings with him a wealth of experience regarding disability and Incapacity Benefit assessment, which will be applied in the expert provision of customer care at UnumProvident.
At UnumProvident, he will be responsible for providing medical information and interpretation of complex medical reports to claims managers, medical underwriters and all other areas related to risk assessment and the claims management process.
Previously, Dr Dear worked as Medical Advisor in Disability Analysis (now part of Atos Origin), where, working primarily with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), he advised on medical evidence obtained about claimants and carried out claimant assessments. Prior to this role, he worked in General Practice in the South of England.
Dr Dear was also a member of West Surrey Non-Principal Group and responsible for managing locum lists supplied to local subscribing practices, and a member of the Local Medical Committee.
