UnumProvident - the UK's leading disability insurer - last week hosted its second annual Supplier Networking event at Milton Court, its headquarters in Dorking, Surrey.
In the region of 40 suppliers from across the UK attended the event, which was organised by Kay Arneill, UnumProvident's Senior Supply and Procurement Officer.
The event is designed to strengthen key supplier partnerships and to provide networking opportunities. This year's event took health and safety on the road as its theme with guest speakers representing suppliers. Alan Bewley from the RAC gave a thought-provoking presentation covering the duty of care that companies have to their staff driving on business and Maurice Edward, deputy chairman of Logic Office Supplies, positioned health and safety as a fundamental consideration for them shaping policy, procedures, their premises and products.
For the first time supplier awards were introduced and winners presented with their awards by Head of Premises, Deborah Brown. The winners were:
- Supplier of Excellence 2004 - Business Essential Online
- Runner-up Supplier of Excellence 2004 - Logic Office Supplies
- Most Improved Supplier - The Storage Company.
