Channel Four News Chief Correspondent, Alex Thomson, was in Dorking recently to co host UnumProvident's 2005 Kick-Off meeting with Susan Ring, the company Chairman and Managing Director.
Five hundred staff packed the Dorking Halls for the event, which took the form of a two-hour, live television broadcast. For the first time ever Dorking based UnumProvident - the UK's leading disability insurer - included all staff across the country in a single meeting using satellite links.
Utilising giant screens at each location the Dorking "broadcast" was joined by 150 UnumProvident staff in Basingstoke, 200 in Bristol and 100 at Ettington Chase where the Customer Solutions Division was having a conference. The two-way link enabled some of the presentations to come from the other three sites into Dorking.
Susan Ring and the other presenters reflected on another year of unprecedented growth during 2004, including a record financial performance, gains in the market and new products.
I am confident that, as we move into 2005 and beyond, we will continue to meet and even exceed the stretching challenges and goals we have set for ourselves.
