UnumProvident's Bristol team warms up for 1,000-mile charity run between Land's End and John O'Groats

1st September 2005

Staff from UnumProvident's Bristol office just can't wait to get started in this year's Le Jo'G (Land's End from John O'Groats) charity relay run, which begins this Saturday 3rd September and finishes Saturday 17th September.

Employees from the Bristol office of UnumProvident, the UK's leading disability insurer, have been extra supportive this year, with entrants making up two different teams each covering 70 miles of the 1,000-mile route.

One of the Bristol teams will be running from Inverness to Blair Atholl on Monday 5th September and the other team will cover the 70-mile distance from Upton-upon-Severn to Chew Magna on Wednesday 14th September. Each runner will cover approximately 10 miles.

This year marks the fourth running of the relay and, once again, UnumProvident has entered a full team for each of the 14 legs of the entire run. Each team needs to raise £1,400 or £200 each runner, an overall total close to £20,000 however last year the insurer raised almost £30,000 for its chosen charity, CLIC Sargent (Cancer and Leukamaemia in Childhood).

Robbie Wood of UnumProvident, said:

The Bristol team loves to get involved in Le Jo'G. We enjoy the personal challenge and the team-building opportunity. Many of us have run the race before but we've got some new recruits, too. It should be a lot of fun but most importantly it's for a fantastic cause.

Anyone interested in sponsoring the runners are asked to contact Robbie Wood on 0117 910 7453.
