As part of the Business in the Community's annual Awards for Excellence, the UK's leading disability insurer, UnumProvident, is sponsoring a new Award, which recognises those companies that are improving the health and well-being of employees.
Supported by the Department of Health, and in association with the Health and Safety Executive, the UnumProvident Healthy Workplaces Award offers UK companies an opportunity to enter a new category within the most established and respected Awards in the field of responsible business.
Chairman and Managing Director of UnumProvident, Susan Ring, said:
In sponsoring this new Award, we are seeking to raise the profile of, and celebrate achievements in, programmes at work that focus on improving the health and well-being of employees.
We are also looking for those companies that help their employees make healthy lifestyle decisions whilst at work. At UnumProvident, much of our work in helping employees back into the workplace after a period of ill-health or incapacity, focuses on early intervention and an open dialogue between the employer, the employee and health specialists. Obviously, one of the best ways for employers to minimise sickness absence is to create a working environment which encourages employees to lead healthy lives.
The closing date for entering the UnumProvident Healthy Workplaces Award, as well as other Business in the Community Awards for Excellence, is Friday 11th March, 2005.
